To reach Stradbroke Island, take a 45-minute ferry ride, which also allows you to bring your car if desired, though it’s not essential for enjoying the island. The ferry provides comfortable indoor seating where you can unwind and enjoy the views, with food and drinks available for purchase. It’s advisable to book your ferry tickets a few days in advance, particularly on weekends when it can be quite busy, especially in good weather. Arriving at the ferry terminal 30 minutes early is a good idea to account for any traffic and to collect your tickets, plus you can grab a bite at the Departure Lounge Cafe on-site. I prefer to avoid any last-minute stress.
For our trip, we chose the 8 am ferry to the island and the 6 pm return, which allowed us plenty of time to explore. We were also treated to a stunning sunset while waiting for the return ferry, capping off our day perfectly.
