After a busy day of exploring along the coast of New South Wales we arrived at our next accommodation stop for the night at Smiths Lake. The places we visited on the way up were Port Stephens–Great Lakes Marine Park, George Reserve: On-Lead Dog Exercise Area, Tomaree Head Summit Walk, Birubi Point Lookout, Number 1 Beach and Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse. The owners of the accommodation recommended this spot for sunset pictures over the lake in the below photos.
Exploring Smiths Lake, New South Wales

Sunset Over the Lake
One of the most magical experiences at Smiths Lake is watching the sunset over the water. As the sky transforms into shades of orange, pink, and purple, the lake reflects the vibrant colors, creating a breathtaking scene perfect for photography or simply unwinding at the end of the day.
We parked near the sign shown in the photo below. The second photo on the right shows the spot along the street, with a track leading down to the lake. It fits about three cars.









We were lucky to have this sunset all to ourselves as we didn’t see anyone else around.
