Each winter, my partner and I head to Queensland for a week to visit my sister, escaping Melbourne’s chilly weather while exploring the local sights. The flight from Melbourne to Brisbane takes about two hours, and the mild winter weather in Queensland is ideal—cool mornings and evenings without the humidity. During our stay, we took a spontaneous day trip along the coast, uncovering its scenic beauty and showing my sister places she hadn’t yet explored since moving to Queensland for work. We don’t plan ahead, instead deciding the night before based on the forecast.
On the 23rd July 2023 we did a drive to Lake Wivenhoe, Mount Glorious-Greene’s Falls, Westridge Outlook and Jolly’s Lookout. It was a 2 hour drive from Logan to Lake Wivenhoe, where we spent a lot of time walking around taking photos. I always take lots of photos where ever I go, it’s better to have more photos than less. We then drove another hour to get to Mt Glorious where we walked to Greene’s Falls. I was disappointed upon reaching the Falls because the lack of recent rain meant there was no water flowing over the cliff, making it look nothing like a waterfall. I would love to go back and see what it looks like after a heavy rainfall. Westridge Outlook is a short walk from the carpark to the boardwalk platform that over looks the rolling hills. The last stop for the day was Jolly’s Lookout, where there is a viewing platform over looking the hills and valley. Then we headed back home after a beautiful day exploring the mountains.
