Last November, my partner and I set out on a two-week road trip from Melbourne to the Blue Mountains in New South Wales. For years, we had dreamed of visiting the Blue Mountains, but challenges such as financial constraints, bushfires, and floods had kept us from making the trip.
In retrospect, I’m glad we held off, as the timing turned out to be perfect for our adventure along the east coast of Australia. I’m now thrilled to capture and share our experiences through photos and stories on my travel blog.
I haven’t visited the locations without photos yet, but I’ll update my post with pictures and details as soon as I do. From what the owner at Dolphin Shores said there is heaps to see and do in Jervis Bay, I can’t wait to travel back here and spend more time sight seeing and exploring this region of New South Wales
Jervis Bay was among one of the coastal stops we visited en route to our next overnight stay. We stopped at a lot of places between each accomodation.
Jervis Bay is a coastal paradise with its famous white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters. I love visiting for the serene beauty and the variety of activities it offers. Whether I’m swimming, snorkeling, or simply relaxing on the beach, Jervis Bay never disappoints. The marine life here is incredible, with dolphins and whales often making an appearance. The surrounding national parks add to the charm, providing perfect spots for bushwalking and picnicking. Every visit to Jervis Bay feels like a refreshing escape into nature’s beauty.

Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, adventure seeker, or simply looking for a relaxing escape, Jervis Bay has something to offer everyone.
Pristine Beaches and Marine Life
One of the highlights of Jervis Bay is its stunning beaches. Hyams Beach, renowned for having the whitest sand in the world, is a must-visit. The contrast of the dazzling white sand against the azure water is a sight to behold. Just a short drive from Hyams Beach, you’ll find Little Hyams Beach, a quieter spot perfect for a peaceful day by the sea.
Jervis Bay Marine Park is a haven for marine life, including seals, penguins, seabirds, dolphins, and migrating whales. The waters are teeming with life, making it a popular spot for scuba diving, snorkeling, and free diving. However, it’s essential to note that certain areas have restrictions on recreational activities like fishing and spear fishing to protect the delicate marine ecosystem.

Surfing enthusiasts will find excellent waves, while kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding provide a fantastic way to explore the bay’s calm waters. Explore the Local Towns
A visit to Jervis Bay wouldn’t be complete without exploring its charming local towns. Huskisson is the heart of Jervis Bay, offering a range of cafes, restaurants, and boutique shops. Take a stroll along the waterfront, enjoy a meal with a view, or hop on a dolphin-watching cruise to see these playful creatures up close.

With its lush green spaces and proximity to the beach, it’s also a great spot for a leisurely stroll or simply unwinding while watching boats sail by. The park’s convenient location near cafes and shops in Huskisson adds to its appeal, providing a lovely blend of natural beauty and local charm.
We stopped at Voyager Park on the 20th November 2023 at 7:14pm, we had food to heat up but when we got to the accomodation which was Dolphin Shores there was no microwave, we thought we had booked a kitchenette, but we didn’t, so we were stuck as to what we could eat because I have allergies, I find it hard to eat out. Luckily we found a restaurant that was open that did gluten free pizza bases, so I was able to eat a hawaiian pizza and asked if they could leave the cheese off as I am allergic to dairy, The name of the place was called Sandbar Restaurant and Bar they were very friendly and were happy to leave the cheese off for me. Most places were shut on a Monday. After we picked up the pizza I was able to add some Bio Cheese that we had in the car fridge and sit and enjoy with a nice view at Voyager Park.
Jervis Bay Marine Park is a vibrant sanctuary for seals, penguins, seabirds, dolphins, and a host of other wildlife. Each year, migrating whales make a stop during their coastal journey.
Popular activities in the marine park include scuba diving, snorkeling, free diving, swimming, surfing, and fishing. However, certain areas restrict recreational activities such as fishing and spear fishing.

With its stunning blue waters, pristine white sand, and abundant dolphins and wildlife, Hyams Beach is truly a remarkable destination. It’s no surprise to us that it ranks among the world’s top ten beaches.
We visited Hymas Beach on the Tuesday 21st November 2023 at 9:19am, I recommend visiting during the week if you can, because the weekends are very popular and hard to find a car park, plus you will have to line up just to get into the car park that fits about 10 cars. As an alternative, it is recommended to park at Greenfield Beach and take the stunning White Sands Walk to Hyams Beach. This route allows you to see more of the area, including Chinamans Beach. We were lucky when we visited as there was only a few people on the beach, which is perfect for taking photos and videos. Its defiantly worth putting on your bucket list to visit and I can see how it made the top 10 beaches in the world.

Little Hyams Beach, nestled just south of the main Hyams Beach, is a hidden gem in Jervis Bay. This smaller, more secluded beach offers the same pristine white sands and clear turquoise waters that the area is famous for, but with a more tranquil and intimate atmosphere. Booderee National Park
We left Hyams Beach at 9:29am and dove to Booderee National Park which was only a 4 minute drive down the road, the owner at our accomodation highly recommended the national park to see Murrays Beach, but he didn’t tell us that there was a park fee of $20.00 to enter the park, we only found out when we were entering the park, my partner wasn’t happy about paying the money for just a an hour or two, but it was worth it when when we got really good photos and videos of a mother kangaroo and her baby at Cave Beach they were really used to seeing people and weren’t scraed at all.

We arrived at Cave Beach at 10:35am on Tuesday 21st November 2023 after we had visited Murrays Beach first. There was a mother kangaroo and her baby in the car park eating grass that weren’t bothered by people. It was a really good day seeing the kangaroos and being so close to a baby, but then this guy decided to move his van and reversed over the mother kangaroo tail, and he didn’t care at all, I was angry at him and told him, the poor mother kangaroo didn’t do any thing to him and seemed like it didn’t bother her.
