Last November 2023, my partner and I embarked on a two-week road trip from Melbourne to the Blue Mountains in New South Wales. We had been eager to visit the Blue Mountains for 15 years, but various challenges, including financial constraints, bushfires, and floods in New South Wales, had always delayed our plans.
I’m glad we waited, as the timing turned out to be perfect for exploring the Blue Mountains and the east coast of Australia. Now, I can document our experiences through photos and stories for my travel blog.
We stayed 2 nights in Sydney but really only had one day of sightseeing, when we arrived at Meriton Suites North Sydney at 3:31pm on the 22 November 2023, it took a few trips to the carpark to bring everything up to the apartment, then we went to check out the pool, hot tub/jacuzzi, sauna and gym. There was no-one in the pool so we went back to our room and got changed ready to test out the pool and hot tub. After our swim we sat and enjoyed our view and watched the sunset while taking lots of photos and videos. On the 23rd November 2023 it was raining in the early morning so we didn’t head out until 11:30am to walk along the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and then over to the Sydney Opera House and to do a Captain Cruise tour in the afternoon on the harbour. After our day of exploring we had a swim and hot tub before eating dinner and then watching the sunset and seeing the change in the city as it was being lit up with lights. The 24th November 2023 was check out at 10am once we had packed the car we drove to the Blue Mountains.
I spent ages trying to find a place to stay with views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House from the room. Most places I found weren’t clear if the room had a view.
Eventually, I found Meriton Suites North Sydney. It’s pricey at $500 a night, but worth it for the amazing views. I booked the 2-bedroom apartment on the top level, which has a balcony. We stayed here for two nights, and it was the one thing we were happy to splurge on since all our sightseeing had been free.
This was our one luxury treat for the holiday, and it was worth every dollar. Check out my photos from the balcony.
Be careful when booking; they show photos of the higher-priced room with a view when you’re looking at the lower-priced room. They mix the photos, so you might think you’re getting a room with a view, but you’re not. They also use wide-angle photos to make the room look bigger.
Exploring Sydney was a dream come true, with its iconic landmarks, stunning harbour views, and vibrant culture. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. My stay at Meriton Suites North Sydney, with its breathtaking views, was the perfect luxury treat. Despite the city’s bustling energy, I enjoyed peaceful moments on beautiful beaches and in lush parks. Every corner of Sydney offered something new to discover, making it an unforgettable adventure. Join me as I share my experiences and tips for making the most of this incredible city.
