This was our first stop for our road trip to Queensland for a wedding at the start of October (September 27 to October 20th 2024). We have done this drive a few times from Melbourne to Lakes Entrance which was our first night accommodation. It’s all freeway driving with sections where you can drive 110km and mainly a straight and flat drive. We always stop at the massive lake in Sale which is called Guthridge Parklands and have lunch plus walk some of the lake to stretch our legs. But this time we turned off before entering Sale to go to 90 Mile beach which is a 30 minute detour from Sale, we stopped at the section of the beach called Golden Beach.
It’s a nice spot to have lunch with picnic tables, toilet block with a “Dump Ezy” for motor homes right in front of the toilets where you can dump your toilet waste, a playground for kids to play on, BBQ facilities and a FoodWorks store to get any groceries and milk bar that sells fish and chips, there were only 2 stores in the town.
It was amazing standing on 90 mile beach and being able to see this straight beach in both directions which is why it’s called 90 Mile beach. The day we visited it was a public holiday for the footy Grand final so there were a few people on the beach and some fishing in the ocean.
