Every winter, my partner and I travel to Queensland for a week to visit my sister, escaping Melbourne’s cold and exploring the local attractions. The flight from Melbourne Airport to Brisbane Airport takes about two hours. Queensland’s weather in winter is perfect, with mild temperatures and low humidity. Mornings and evenings can be pleasantly cool, which we find refreshing. During our stay, we enjoyed a day trip driving along the coast to discover its scenic beauty, showing my sister places she hadn’t yet seen since relocating to Queensland for work. We don’t make any plans before arriving in Queensland, we decide the night before and see what the weather is going to be.
On July 23rd, 2023, we embarked on a scenic drive to Lake Wivenhoe, Mount Glorious, Greene’s Falls, Westridge Outlook, and Jolly’s Lookout. The journey from Logan to Lake Wivenhoe took about two hours, where we spent a good amount of time walking around and capturing photos. I always make sure to take plenty of photos wherever I go—better to have too many than not enough. Afterward, we drove for another hour to Mount Glorious and hiked to Greene’s Falls. Unfortunately, I was disappointed when we reached the Falls, as the lack of rain had left it dry, far from resembling a waterfall. I’d love to return after heavy rain to see it in its full glory. Westridge Outlook was a brief walk from the carpark to a boardwalk platform that offered stunning views of the rolling hills. Our last stop was Jolly’s Lookout, where we enjoyed the panoramic views of the hills and valleys before heading home after a wonderful day exploring the mountains.

This picturesque haven offers nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers an unparalleled experience amidst lush landscapes, cascading waterfalls, and abundant wildlife. Join me as we embark on an unforgettable journey to explore the wonders of Greene’s Falls and its surrounding natural beauty.

Pack your favorite snacks and spread a blanket near the falls or find a cozy spot by one of the park’s picturesque creeks.
