Every winter, my partner and I escape Melbourne’s chilly weather for a week in Queensland to visit my sister and explore the local sights. The two-hour flight from Melbourne to Brisbane is quick, and Queensland’s winter climate is ideal, with mild temperatures and low humidity. The cool mornings and evenings are a refreshing change. During our stay, we enjoy spontaneous day trips, deciding where to go the night before based on the weather. One of our favorite drives was along the coast, showing my sister the scenic beauty of places she hadn’t yet discovered since moving to Queensland for work.

On July 23rd, 2023, we set out on a drive to Lake Wivenhoe, Mount Glorious, Westridge Outlook, and Jolly’s Lookout. The two-hour journey from Logan to Lake Wivenhoe gave us plenty of time to wander and take photos – I always make sure to capture as many as possible. Afterward, we drove another hour to Mount Glorious, where we walked to Greene’s Falls. Unfortunately, the falls were dry due to a lack of recent rain, leaving me disappointed, as it didn’t resemble a waterfall at all. I’m eager to return after heavy rainfall to see it in its full glory. Westridge Outlook was a short stroll from the car park, leading to a boardwalk that offers sweeping views of the rolling hills. Our final stop was Jolly’s Lookout, where a viewing platform overlooks the hills and valley. After a day spent exploring the mountains and their beautiful landscapes, we headed back home, satisfied and content.
